How to use Net Stumbler ..


1. Download and install  Net Stumbler  by http://downloads.netstumbler.com/downloads/netstumblerinstaller_0_4_0.exe

2. Run the Net Stumbler.

3. it will automatically starts scanning all the wireless Networks around you.

4. Once its completed, you will see the complete list of wireless networks around and you will see different columns such as MAC, SSID, SPEED, VENDOR, TYPE and other information

5. Now select the MAC address that you wish to check and want to explore more about that. When you click on the MAC address, you will see a graph that shows the wireless network’s signal strength. The more green and the less spaces are there shows the better  signal strength.

5. By that information you can know the vulnerabilities in the network 

There are 2 types of encryption –

WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)

WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and WPA 2

How to secure yourself from this attack ..

1. Do not broadcast your SSID.
2. Make a good password
3 .USE WPA 2 encryption


How to stop broadcasting SSID –

Step 1: Access the router's web-based setup page. ( type 192.168.1.1 in the url bar of your browser .. If this not work read the instruction book of your modem )
